What is longleaf yellow pine and why is it special?
Longleaf yellow pine is a premium Southern yellow pine species known for its exceptional strength, tight grain, natural resin content, and warm golden color that deepens with age. It is denser and more durable than many other softwoods, making it ideal for high-traffic flooring, walls, and architectural millwork.
What moisture content are your planks dried to?
All Farmhouse Planks are kiln-dried to 6–8% moisture content. This tight range minimizes expansion, contraction, and cupping after installation, which is especially important in variable-humidity climates.

Our Premium grade longleaf yellow pine delivers clean, consistent boards with limited natural character. Expect tight grain, minimal knots, and a refined appearance that still shows the warm, golden tone of Southern yellow pine. Precision-milled to 5/8″ thickness with a full 5″ face coverage, these planks give you the option of a crisp nickel-gap look on one side or a classic Pattern 122 / V-groove profile on the other—ideal for walls, ceilings, and accent applications where a polished yet natural result is desired.

Supreme is our highest visual grade. These boards feature the tightest grain, the fewest natural markings, and the most uniform color of any longleaf yellow pine we offer. Milled to the same exact 5/8″ × 5″ face dimensions in 8′ and 12′ lengths, each plank is double-sided so you can choose a sharp nickel-gap reveal or a traditional Pattern 122 / V-groove profile. Perfect for high-end residential and commercial interiors where a clean, sophisticated look is the priority.
Are your planks suitable for flooring, walls, and ceilings?
Yes. Our longleaf yellow pine works beautifully as flooring, wall paneling (shiplap-style or traditional), ceilings, and accent walls. Contractors and designers regularly use it for both residential and commercial projects.
Is Farmhouse Planks wood sustainably harvested?
Yes. We source from responsible forests with a strong emphasis on sustainable harvesting practices that minimize waste. We prioritize eco-conscious forestry that supports long-term forest health.
Do you offer FSC-certified material?
We work with suppliers who follow responsible forestry standards. Specific FSC chain-of-custody availability can vary by batch—please contact us for current stock status if FSC certification is required for your project.
Can these planks be used in bathrooms or other high-moisture areas?
Longleaf yellow pine can perform well in bathrooms and kitchens when properly finished with a high-quality water-resistant sealer or oil and when the space is well-ventilated. We do not recommend it for continuously wet areas (showers, steam rooms, or exterior applications without proper protection).
What finish options works best with longleaf yellow pine?
Clear oil finishes, hardwax oils, and water-based polyurethanes all work excellently. The wood takes stain evenly if a darker tone is desired, and its natural resin content gives it good durability under the right topcoat. Many designers prefer a natural or lightly enhanced oil finish to showcase the grain and color.
